About Kondapalli toys
Kondapalli, situated about 24 kms from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh is home for the globally reputed handmade wooden toys, known as Kondapalli Toys. It is a unique art form sharing the rich legacy and honour of scores of craftsman of this artisan village, bringing forth its ancestral tradition, despite a change in the lifestyle of the modern world.
Kondapalli Toys (dolls) are a collector’s delight, as they add a touch of aesthetics to drawing rooms, with their finely created figurines. These toys depict Rural Folks, Deities, Daily Life, Kondapalli Soldiers, Pen Stand, Dasavatar set, ButtaBomma, Dancing Doll; Ambari Elephants etc. are among the items.
In a changed lifestyle, Kondapalli Toys will be a collector’s delight to the drawing rooms, halls and even bedrooms, as a part of interiors. Though, Lepakshi Handicrafts Emporium has taken an initiative for the past few years, still it is insufficient.
For Kondapalli handmade wooden toys to survive, a social support from the entrepreneurs and the public who could afford to spend few hundreds of rupees is necessary, not only to stimulate the interests of the younger generation, but also to continue its rich legacy.
